More fire from my long time collaborators The Kites. This indie-rock band wanted to bring in a bit of pop-punk and grunge influences with this one. They sure came to the right place for that!

Rae – Oh No

An example of my work in modern rock recording and mixing.
This track was brought in by the band after self-producing it themselves using programmed drums and amp similators. So the song was already there, and very good. My job was to record the instruments ‘proper’ and bring my production ideas to kick it up a notch. We replaced the drums with real drums recorded in my cool sounding live room, replaced the guitars and bass with multiple layers through big loud amps and refined the vocals to be slick and polished.

Harris Rafferty – Eighteen

Big indie-rock song built from an acoustic guitar up. Great addition of the horns section to pull in a bit of Harris’ theatrical background alongside his strong influence from Sam Fender.

New track from Shoegaze band Honeyspider. This is my own project. Lots and lots and lots of guitar layers are the key to this sound… probably used about 30 pedals on this song alone!

The Kites – Hello

Heres and example of my indie recording and mix work.
I’ve worked with The Kites many times and they always bring something fresh and exciting to work with. Hello needed to sound modern, poppy and dancey but still very much and indie band. We achieved this by use of synths, subtle electronic drum samples and big harmonies alongside prominent guitars and drums with pulsing bass.

Hollins – She Said

Here’s an example of my indie recording and mix work. Hollins are an indie band with strong influences in the ‘madchester’ movement so my goal was to bring some of that flavour into this production. I achieved this by bringing in some extra percussion layers and swirling effects alongside their funky wah wah guitars, upbeat piano and subby bass.

The Macaws – See Me Running

An example of some of my indie recording and mixing work. The Macaws are an indie-rock band with some punk sensibilites thrown in, so my goal was to give this production a bit more of an aggressive bite than your typical modern indie-rock band. We achieved this through thick layers of dirty guitars, crunchy drums and distorted vocals.

I work on a good mix of genres, but heres an example of my metal recording and mixing work. We made good use of my Peavey 5150 and Marshall JCM 800 on this record for ultimate hi-gain guitar tones.

Astoria – The Snow

Heres and example of my indie recording and mix work.
Astoria are an indie-rock band but they like their productions to have ‘vibe’. This vibe was achieved through heavy use of effects such as delay and flanger to give it huge, wide, larger than life sound that gives you a little more than just loud guitars and heavy drums,
